100 Days of Dev: Series 4 / 2020 (Days 31-40) Super Heavy

A quick wrap-up of these next 10 days, in this time I worked on:

1) dogeDIG
Mainly just work on notes and planning here, nothing super interesting to see. But I am starting to work on bringing in the dialogue system from my Ludum Dare entry ‘Commodore Commander’ into dogeDIG. It needs a rewrite and some extra features, but should fit in nicely overall.

2) Starship & Super Heavy Booster
Most of this 10 days was spent working on updating my Starship model, which included a ton of tweaks and fixes until I was even happier with the model.

And then I took things a step further and added the Super Heavy booster as well. Lots of pictures below with captions detailing the work done during this period:

First attempt at hexagon heat tile procedural texture for Starship model
Basic booster added into the scene.. you can see where this is going!
UV wrapped heat tile procedural texture (bad UVs tho)
Grid Fins added, Starship model and UVs updated
Booster details being added
Booster section with 37 engines.. thats a lot of engines
Updated after a tweet from Elon, back down to 31 engines, with large legs removed
Taking some artistic liberty to add my own streamlined booster legs, kinda like the lunar Starship legs announced a few days prior
Full Starship-Super Heavy Booster Stack
Starship window added (was a nightmare to make this), overall model looking a lot better.
Comparison of day 31 vs day 40, the model came a long way!
Finally, I added in a basic launch tower model, since it felt a bit odd having it standing upright on its own. Wasnt sure if this would end up being used in the final render, but worth trying at the time.

Thats it for days 31-40.
Total dev-hours recorded for the challenge overall:  105 hours 35 mins
