Alex Delderfield [Pre-Challenge Intro Post]

Starting out with an introduction post: My name is Alex Delderfield! I’m 28 and Ive been interested in game development and digital art for a long time now. I’m a long time Blender user but lately I’ve been working on learning some other programs and game engines. I’ve mainly been learning the Unity game engine but I’m also starting to brush up on my Maya and ZBrush skills too!

I’m signing up for my 2nd 100 Day Challenge by starting this blog. The first challenge was a 100 Days of Game Development Challenge – and this one will also be 100 Days of Game Development Challenge!

Last time I had 3 primary goals:

  1. Complete 100 consecutive days of Game Dev (30mins a day minimum) – COMPLETED!
  2. Finish a course on Unity/C# which I’d started well over a year ago – COMPLETED!
  3. Publish my first game – INCOMPLETE

So while I didnt publish a finished game I did succeed in both working for 100 consecutive days and finishing the Unity Course – something which has set me up nicely for my game dev projects for 2018.

Now in 2018 I’m aiming for another productive 100 days. I wont be doing the video blogs this time because it was way too much work (time that could otherwise be spent doing game-dev). I might get a dev-log series in the following month or so – something a bit more laid back and unconstrained. But either way this next challenge I have the following goals in mind:

Primary Projects/Goals

  1. Complete 100 consecutive days of game dev following the usual rules
  2. Get my early-WIP game dogeDIG up to scratch for alpha/play-testing

Secondary Projects/Goals

  1. Finish a game-art character tutorial series (Ultimate Career Guide: 3D Artist or Concepting in ZBrush w/ Alex Figini)
  2. Expand networking knowledge with the multiplayer boat game (from the last challenge)
  3. Continue developing ‘Gitch-Pixel’ for potential release (from the last challenge)
