100 Day Challenge

A 100-day push to end the year of 2025 strong.

A kick-off page for this year's 100 Day Challenge. I have included some general 100 Day Challenge info/resources/philosophies for anyone who has not done a challenge like this before.
But of course feel free to approach this challenge however you want!

Getting Started

Before you dive in to any planning, take a moment to reflect on these key questions:

  Q)  "What do you want to focus on most for the next 100 days - to best finish this year?"
  Q)  "What would you be most proud to achieve and look back on, in the time that remains in 2025?"
  Q)  "What sets up your 2026 to be your best year yet?"

Tips & Approach

1. Planning is key!

Have one (or more) goals in mind.
You can always change and adapt goals as the 100 days progress, or even set dates throughout the challenge to reflect and adapt - but having some goals in mind early on helps substantially.

There are a lot of different ways to approach goals too. Goals can be specific and well defined, or more general/broad. Think about what goals will best help you find consistency for a 100 day period, and think about what types of goals can help you achieve this best!

Examples:
• I aim to complete a single major milestone in my game/art project/business idea (defined)
• I want to create 3 new paintings in the next 100 days (defined)
• I want to put 100 hours into developing my music writing skills (broad)
• I want to increase my fitness: Daily walking, a more consistent gym routine, etc. (broad)
2. Set Achievable, forgiving goals

Align goals with your base values and keep flexibility in mind. Rest days should be factored in for fitness. Dont expect yourself to achieve all goals for 100 days straight. Ignore the idea of maintaining 'streaks' if that adds too much pressure, or embrace it if you feel it motivates you well.

Having achievable goals, rather than crushing goals, will always lead to a more enjoyable and successful challenge!

Goal Examples:
❌ "I will run every day for the next 100 days" (sets up for failure, injury)
✅ "I will run 3 times a week, and walk every day I have capacity, making sure to take rest days" (reasonable, healthy)

❌ "I must put 2 hours every day into multiple code projects" (high pressure, high expectations)
✅ "I will put 30mins a day into my code project whenever possible" (reasonable, forgiving)
3. Be mindful of zero-days and motivation lulls

Low motivation, unexpected events, sickness, or just 'life' will happen.
Not hitting a goal or having a bad day shouldn't result in failure or demotivation. Its better to just accept these days and roll with them. During a period of low motivation - planning a future date to return with revitalized energy is a lot better than falling into complete demotivation.

"Aim to Rest, rather than derail" - Zero days can happen, but a fortnight of zero-days are best to avoid!

4. Multiple goals are more manageable with a point system

If you have multiple goals, think about using a 'point' system where you aim for the highest score possible each day. Keep it forgiving and manageable.

✅ 4 points per day across reasonable goals = motivating and a realistic daily challenge
❌ 14 points across difficult/time-demanding goals = stressful and demotivating
5. Accountability -> Motivation

Dont underestimate accountability!
Just a bit of healthy pressure can help you keep momentum going. This

Find a type of accountability that works best for you in terms of motivation. This might mean stat tracking (I have an easy setup template to use, listed below in the Resources section), or this might mean reporting in with friends (or via the challenge discord channel) every few days. Or it could be writing a blog post of project highlights every week, every 10 days, or at the end of a month. Even sharing work and progress stats on social media can be pretty motivating.

6. Divide & Conquer

Break the challenge itself into more managable sections.
You can look at it as 10x 10-day blocks. Or 3x month-long blocks (with September days as warmup & planning).

Its up to you how you can best utilize the 100 days - think about what will motivate you most!

Obsidian - Habit Tracker Integration

Utilize a habit tracking setup in Obsidian (I might put one together for this years challenge, TBD)

Shared 100 Day Challenge Blog

With the 2021 100 Day Challenge, there was a wordpress blog setup a few of us used (this is currently being migrating from my old server to my new setup for historical sake).
But I could also potentially set it up again for blog posts, if anyone wants to use it.

Ready for the 2025 Challenge??

Remember: This is 100 days of progress, not perfection.
Every day you show up is a win!
